A helmet may be the most important piece of safety gear, but it’s by no means the only apparel to consider before hopping aboard a powersports vehicle. You can have fun year-round in cold and hot weather, and in a wide range of environments, and you need gear that’s specially designed for the specific powersports activity to be safe and comfortable, apparel that will not only protect your body if you have a get-off, but keep you warm and dry in cold temperatures and cool on hot summer days. With our ATV and UTV (side-by-side) riding gear you’ll be prepared for any off-road adventure. We have lightweight, vented jerseys that are available with matching vented pants, to keep you cool on hot days, and waterproof, textile jackets and pants for cold weather riding. When the mercury soars you can strap on one of our hydration packs and drink on the go to stay hydrated, and when it dips but you still want to get out on the trails, we have base layers made from moisture-wicking fabrics for extra warmth, balaclavas, face masks, neck warmers, and bandanas, and electrically heated jackets and pants liners for the ultimate in warmth. For protection in a crash and from roost and debris hurled by the rider in front of you we offer a full complement of body armor specifically designed for the dirt like ballistic jerseys that can be worn under a jersey or by themselves and include full torso and elbow protection, spine protection and built-in kidney belt, as well as separate neck braces, chest protectors, knee braces, and more. With their shin guards and rigid toe boxes with steel reinforced toe caps, our off-road boots are like body armor for your feet. They’re comfortable and supportive, and feature easy to use buckles, anti-slip soles, and some have built-in pivot points that allow easy ankle articulation. Our off-road gloves come in mesh for cooling or insulated and waterproof to keep your hands warm and dry, and they feature protective padding at the fingers, knuckles, and palms, abrasion resistant material construction, and adjustable gauntlets in various lengths. Nothing can ruin a snowmobile ride more than becoming cold and wet. The best way to stay warm and dry all day even in the coldest weather is by layering. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer in a material weight that’s appropriate for the temperature you’ll be riding in. For extreme cold add a fleece mid-layer, and this layer can also be easily shed if you get too warm. Of course, the most important layer is the outer one in the form of a wind and waterproof, abrasion resistant snowmobile suit. These are available in one-piece styles, or you can go with a jacket and snow pants or bibs. Keep your head warm with a balaclava or face mask – this is essential if you wear a snocross or open face helmet, which should also be accompanied by goggles with anti-fog, tinted lenses for eye protection and clear visibility even on the brightest days.
Snowmobile gloves and snowmobile mittens are wind and waterproof, yet breathable, insulated to keep your hands warm, and many have removable moisture-wicking liners for layering that creates warmth. Snowmobile boots are durable, supportive and heavily insulated to keep your feet warm. They have moisture-wicking liners and waterproof outer shells to prevent your feet from becoming wet, due to sweat from within or snow and water from without - because wet feet quickly become cold feet. These should be paired with synthetic/wool blend socks that wick moisture away but also provide insulation for warmth. Of course, we also offer a full complement of electrically heated apparel including jacket and pants liners, gloves and socks.
The most important gear to wear when riding your Personal Watercraft (PWC) is a life jacket, also called a life vest or PFD (Personal Floatation Device). Even if you’re a good swimmer, if you fall off and become separated from your craft you can become exhausted or suffer from hypothermia before you can make it back to your craft or to shore or help is able to reach you. A life jacket will keep you afloat, but not just any one will do, you should wear one that is designed for PWC use and approved by the United States Coast Guard (USCG). The USCG classifies life jackets according to intended use, and Type III jackets are the vest type, for PWC use and also suitable for water skiing, canoeing, and kayaking. They’re specifically designed for active use and won’t restrict movement, easy to put on and comfortable. A life vest consists of foam filled segments covered by nylon or neoprene in a wide range of bright colors and designs, with securement by nylon straps and quick release buckles. Some vests have a sewn-in D-ring to attach the PWC safety lanyard.
Wearing a life vest may be a no-brainer but that’s far from all you need for riding safety and comfort. Wetsuit shorts are a better option than ordinary swim trunks or a bikini as they’re more comfortable and provide protection from rash. PWCs are capable of high speeds and even on warm days you can quickly become cold. We have a variety of gear to keep you warm yet comfortable and flexible including wetsuits, and neoprene jackets and pants. A wetsuit or drysuit can keep you warm and extend your riding season. We have gear to wear under your life vest as well as jackets designed to wear over the vest. Wearing shoes designed for PWC riding will not only help keep your feet warm at speed and when the water’s cold, they’ll provide much more protection and grip than flip-flops or bare feet. To protect your eyes from bright sun and UV rays, wind and water spray, we have a wide range of goggles and sunglasses appropriate for PWC use, offered in your choice of styles and lens tints. And a good pair of PWC gloves will keep your hands warm in cooler weather, give you extra grip, and prevent blisters.
